Man bludgeons wife to death for cooking curry sans rice in Odisha, accused arrested

A woman was bludgeoned to death by her husband for cooking curry sans rice in Odisha's Sambalpur district. The accused was arrested by the police on Monday.

Sambalpur: In a horrific incident, a woman was bludgeoned to death by her husband for cooking curry sans rice. The grisly incident took place at Nuadhi village in the Jamankira police station area in the Sambalpur district of Odisha on Sunday night. The accused has been identified as 40-year-old Sanatan Dharua, while his wife's identified as 35-year-old Pushpa Dharua.

The deceased's son, who was out when he returned home found his mother dead. He immediately informed the police about the incident. On receiving information, police rushed to the crime spot and arrested the accused. The accused was arrested by the police on Monday. Police were not sharing information about the incident. The couple has a daughter and a son. Their daughter works as a domestic help at Kuchinda while the son had gone to his friend's house on Sunday night, sources said.

The accused Sanatan returned home and he found that his wife Pushpa had cooked only curry, but not rice. This infuriated the accused. He was hungry and desperate to eat food. An argument broke between the duo. The accused, in a fit of rage, picked up a brick and hit his wife repeatedly. The grievously injured victim died after some time.

When the deceased's son returned home he found his mother lying motionless. He immediately alerted the police about the incident. The police after arriving at the crime spot shifted the body for an autopsy. Police also arrested the accused husband. People of the locality are in a state of shock after hearing the shocking incident.
