VVPAT meant for LS polls attached to unit meant for assembly polls in Odisha's Badamba

The Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) meant for parliamentary constituencies was mistakenly attached to Control and Ballot Unit meant for assembly constituencies, in polling station number 196 of 87-Badamba Assembly Constituency.

The VVPAT was being replaced in the polling booth after the previous one had malfunctioned Tuesday morning.

The error was only detected after 134 votes had already been cast in the replaced VVPAT.

Meanwhile, polling has been adjourned in the constituency, and request for holding fresh polls is to be made to the Election Commission.
