Puri (Odisha): Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientists reportedly consulted and obtained the advice of Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Puri, for his help in a Vedic mathematical calculation required for the launch of Chandrayaan-2.
Behind the success story of Chandrayaan-2, there was encouragement from Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Gobardhan Peeth. The Puri Seer’s Vedic mathematical formula had been applied for the launch of Chandrayaan-2.
A few days before the actual event, ISRO scientists had reportedly discussed the launch date with the Shankaracharya.
Jagadguru Sankaracharya advised the launch date of Chandrayaan-2 According to reports, Shankaracharya had also visited ISRO’s laboratory faculty at Sriharikota before the launch. He had a discussion with the scientists there about Vedic mathematics vis-à-vis launching of Chandrayaan-2.
Swami Shankaracharya had stated that the distance between the Earth and the Moon had been calculated and mentioned in the ancient Holy Books like “Vishnu Puran”, “Vayu Puran” and “Srimad Bhagwat Gita.”
"As per the calculation made by Bhisma in epic Mahabharat, the diameter of ‘Chandrama’ (i.e. Moon) is 11,000 ‘yojans’ (a measurement prevalent in ancient times). Its circumference is 33,000 ‘yojans’ and the width is 59 ‘yojans’. The scientists should take note of these facts. This calculation is possible only by Vedic mathematics. From ancient times, Vedic mathematics has been acclaimed by the entire world," he said.
