Woman delivers baby while being carried on cot

A pregnant woman in Samadapada village of Odisha's Nuapada district delivered a baby on Tuesday while she was on way to the hospital. The woman had to be carried on a cot by her family members due to lack of road connectivity.

Nuapada(Odisha): In what could be termed as medical apathy and lack of proper infrastructure, a pregnant woman in Samadapada village of Odisha's Nuapada district delivered a baby on Tuesday while she was on her way to the hospital on a cot.

The woman had to be carried on a cot by her family members through a forest for four kilometres due to lack of road connectivity.

Reportedly, Pramila Majhi, wife of Mukesh Majhi complained of labour pain on Monday evening following which the family members called the ambulance.

When the ambulance did not show up till morning, the family members decided to carry her on their own on a makeshift cot.

Both the mother and daughter are doing fine.
