Five districts in Odisha stop vaccination drive due to shortage

The uncertainty over Phase III Covid vaccination drive in Odisha continues as the government is yet to communicate the schedule of vaccine dispatches by the manufacturers. Amid the sharp rise in Covid-19 cases across Odisha, the vaccination drive halted in 5 of the 30 districts in the state due to the unavailability of the vaccines.

Bhubaneswar:The uncertainty over Phase III Covid vaccination drive in Odisha continues as the government is yet to communicate the schedule of vaccine dispatches by the manufacturers.

Amid the sharp rise in Covid-19 cases across Odisha, the vaccination drive is halted in five of the 30 districts in the state due to the unavailability of the vaccines.

There was no vaccination session in the five districts — Boudh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Subarnapur, and Koraput due to the non-availability of doses.

"Against the requirement of 6.3 lakh doses of Covishield to give a second dose to beneficiaries, the state is having only 1.1 lakh doses," a senior official in the Health and Family Welfare department said.
