Dimapur: The National Peoples Party (NPP) on Wednesday suffered a major setback when two of its legislators in Nagaland joined the ruling Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDDP).

The NPP legislators are Imnatiba and L. Khumo Khiamniungan.

"The new addition will strengthen the PDA government under the progressive leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton," an NDPP statement had said.

It further took the strength of NDPP to 19 in the 60 seat Nagaland assembly.

"It will also enhance stability and ensure that the PDA government remains focused on the agenda of all-round development in an inclusive manner," it added.
