The agitating people staged road blocked at many places disrupting normal lives and had called for an 'on road mass indefinite agitation' on February 6.
The Citizenship Amendment Bill was proposed in Lok Sabha on July 19, amending the Citizenship Act of 1955.
Ever since the Citizenship amendment bill has been passed by the Union Cabinet and subsequently by the Lok Sabha, protests erupt across Northeastern states of India.
Interestingly, few BJP ruled or supported states are also demanding withdrawal of the Bill.

Manipur, Nagaland and Meghalaya have opposed the Bill. States ruled by non-BJP parties are also opposing the Bill.
Renowned Manipuri filmmaker Aribam Sharma is returning his Padma Shri award in protest against Citizenship Amendment Bill. Aribam Sharma was awarded Padma Shri in 2006.
