Amravati (Maharashtra):At a time when plastic has emerged as a major global threat in many aspects, Nitin Ujgaonkar, a resident of Rajura city in Amravati has come up with an innovative idea of turning plastic waste into environment-friendly housing.
What could leave you awestruck is a house constructed by Ujgaonkar using more than 20,000 plastic bottles, as a possible solution to India’s plastic problem.
It is common to find a house built of bricks, sand and cement. But constructing a house using plastic bottles is a completely new concept in India.
Ujgaonkar built this innovative house in the Dasturnagar area near Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University. Ujgaonkar says that using plastic for housing could be one of the most potential solutions to India’s growing plastic menace.
Ujgaonkar, a post-graduate in Law, came in the construction business to pursue his hobby. He always thought of doing something new and innovative in the construction sector. Then one day he conceived the idea of making a house from plastic bottles.
Talking to ETV Bharat Ujgaonkar said: "When I went for morning walk one day, I saw a pile of plastic bottles on the roadside. I thought what I can do with these bottles? Then the idea of building a house came to my mind."
