Husband sets wife on fire for serving less mutton

A woman in Thane was allegedly was burnt to death by her husband for not serving him enough mutton. Police have registered a case against him and further investigations are on.

Thane (Maharashtra):A woman was allegedly set on fire by her husband for not serving him enough mutton in Panvel, Thane, Maharashtra. She succumbed to injuries after battling for life for ten days.

The husband allegedly poured kerosene on his wife after they had an argument as the wife did not serve him enough mutton.

The husband had brought mutton and asked her to make curry. After sitting for dinner the husband demanded more mutton, to which the wife refused and they had a heated argument. Later, he poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze.

The couple had a son who was present at the time of the fight.

The woman suffered severe burn injuries and she was taken to Lokmanya Tilak Hospital in Sion, Mumbai. However, after battling for life for ten days she succumbed to her burn injuries.

The husband is absconding since then and efforts are on to nab the culprit.

Police have registered a case against him under section 302 of IPC (murder) and further investigations are on.
