WATCH: Shiv Sena's show of strength as Aaditya Thackeray files nomination

Aditya Thackeray filed his nomination from Worli constituency in Maharashtra. The Thackeray scion, a BA and LLB, is the son of Uddhav and Rashmi Thackeray and has a younger brother, Tejas Thackeray.

Mumbai:Hordes of Shiv Sena supporters joined in as a show of strength as Aaditya Thackeray, Shiv Sena youth wing leader and son of party president Uddhav Thackeray, filed his nomination from Worli assembly constituency in Maharashtra.

Thackeray Jr. will be the first member from the family to enter the electoral fray after Shalini Thackeray, the wife of Jeetendra Thackeray, a cousin of MNS founder Raj Thackeray, who had unsuccessfully contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Aditya Thackeray, a BA and LLB, is the son of Uddhav and Rashmi Thackeray and has a younger brother, Tejas Thackeray.

Ahead of his nomination, Thackeray also tweeted a picture of him bowing before a portrait of his grandfather and Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray.

As the BJP-Sena alliance hangs on a fine balance ever since the BJP's dominating win in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Sena seeks for a change in its leadership to dominate the domestic scene once again.

Thackeray's nomination rally also witnessed ally participation as BJP flags were waved during the march. Shiv Sena and BJP are jointly contesting Maharashtra assembly polls, scheduled on October 21.

In August, Aaditya had launched a state-wide 'Jan Ashirwad Yatra' to express gratitude to voters for their support in this year's Lok Sabha polls and also to seek their favour for the upcoming Assembly elections.
