Mumbai: With the coronavirus epidemic still on around the world, Maharashtra is now also facing the problem of dirty public toilets. The Sulabh Sauchalayas across the state are currently either closed or in extremely dirty conditions indicating the administration's apathy towards cleaning and maintaining the toilets.
In wake of the clogged, unhygienic public toilets, the Nagpur administration has now appealed to the people to keep cleanliness in public toilets.
In every city, public toilets and 'pay and use toilets' are built and run by the local administration to avoid the inconvenience of the people. But, even after paying money, people don't get to use clean toilets for which the citizens are now expressing anger against the mismanagement.
Kolhapur: Clashes over corruption in toilets work
In Kolhapur, a demand was made to probe the works of public toilets built under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Hatkanangale Nagar Panchayat member Pravin Jangonda and his accomplice Mahesh Pandav also tried to protest before Zilla Parishad CEO office, however, the police stopped them and consequently, clashes occurred between police and agitators.
Although the police detained the agitators, the incident triggered heated exchanges in Kolhapur Zilla Parishad.
Jalgaon: Women face embarrassment due to lack of public toilets
In a shocking reality, Jalgaon, a city with a population of five and a half lakhs, lacks basic amenities for citizens. There are no public toilets in commercial complexes under the jurisdiction of Municipal Corporation, public places in markets and main parts of the city. The public toilets already existing are extremely dirty and unclean to use which the women face embarrassment.

The Municipal administration is also not paying attention to this subject related to women health.
Jalgaon city has 20 to 25 commercial complexes of various sizes. These complexes have toilets for women, but they are not being kept clean. Many toilets have broken doors and some are being used as a storeroom. In many complexes, toilets for women are locked permanently.
Due to all the above reasons, women face extreme difficulties when they have to attend nature’s call. Not only commercial complexes, but the same problem is prevailing in public gardens, government offices etc.
