Gadkari further said that efforts are underway to reduce pollution by using biogas at cheaper rates to make the country self-sufficient instead of importing petrol. Today we are spending a huge amount of Rs 8 lakh crore to import petroleum or crude oil. This is a big burden on the economy and also increasing pollution. We are trying to cut down the expense by working on options like LNG, ethanol, methanol, biodiesel, electric and hydrogen fuels for pollution relief.
