Thane (Mumbai):A case has been registered against a 35-year-old man who allegedly raped his 10-year-old daughter on Wednesday in Thane's Bhiwandi.
He has been charged under relevant sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act.
The victim's mother passed away a few months ago after which the minor girl was living alone with her father Mani Shetty in Shelar.
"On Wednesday evening, the girl started shouting for help when the alleged accused started sexually harassing her. Neighbours came to her rescue after they heard the girl shouting," police said.
The neighbours then informed the Bhiwandi police station about the incident and filed an FIR against the accused.
Police have arrested Mani Shetty on the charges of raping his 10-year-old daughter. Further investigations are underway.
