Karad (Maharashtra): Campaigning for the Congress-NCP candidates in Maharashtra's Satara district, Congress leader Shatrughan Sinha on Thursday took an apparent dig at the ruling BJP, saying it was misusing its money power to attack democracy.
Sinha was campaigning for Congress-NCP candidates Sinha was addressing a rally in Satara's Karad in support of Congress-NCP candidates Prithviraj Chavan and Shriniwas Patil, when he made the remarks.
In an obvious reference to the BJP government, Sinha said, "This is a time when some people and some parties are misusing their money power to attack democracy with their propaganda machinery."
"Even in such times, there are a few who are firmly standing their ground and are ready to give a befitting reply. Prithviraj Chavan and Shriniwas Patil are at the top of the list of such strong people," he added.
Senior Congress leader and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan is contesting from Karad in the Maharashtra Assembly polls, while NCP leader and former Sikkim Governor Shriniwas Patil is contesting the bypoll for Satara Lok Sabha constituency.
