Pune wall collapse: Fadnavis, Nitish Kumar announce ex-gratia

Maharashtra CM Fadnavis expressed condolences and announced an ex gratia for the victims of the Pune wall collapse. Around 17 people are dead and two people were injured as a wall collapsed in Maharashtra's Kondhwa in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

Pune wall collapse: Fadnavis, Nitish Kumar announce ex-gratia

Pune:Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his condolences and announced an ex gratia to families, who lost their loved ones after a 60-ft-wall of a residential complex collapsed on shanties, following incessant rains.

Fadnavis announced an ex gratia of Rs. 5 lakh to the kin of the deceased and ordered an in-depth enquiry headed by Pune Collector.

Meanwhile, Mukta Tilak, Mayor Pune, on Saturday said that a 'work stop' order has been issued so that no work will be conducted at the construction site.

"An investigation will be conducted on the incident and strict actions will be taken again those responsible. The municipal corporation is providing necessary assistance," Mukta Tilak said.

Besides, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also announced a sum of Rs. 2 lakh from the Chief Minister Relief Fund.

Around 17 people were killed and two injured as a wall collapsed in Maharashtra's Kondhwa in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

The rescue operation by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has now ended, an official said.
