Pune:Maharashtra is one of the worst affected states in the country with regard to the surge in COVID 19 cases. Many areas in the state are seeing curfews imposed by the state administration to contain the pandemic. However, frontline workers like doctors, nurses and police officers have been working 24/7 to battle the public health crisis. In appreciation of the efforts of the frontline workers in dealing with the situation, an autorickshaw driver is giving the corona frontline workers free rides.
Services rendered to more than 500 citizens
Sandeep Kale from Pune ferries frontline workers to their work destinations and back home for free. He had started his service during last year's lockdown, that is, during the first wave. He has continued with his efforts as the second wave takes a toll on the city. To date, he has served more than 500 citizens in essential services by providing free travel in his rickshaw.
