Pune:The Government has decided to extend the lockdown as a measure to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. Due to the lockdown, while many had to postpone their wedding ceremonies, some got married at home, but the wedding in Pune on Saturday has been unique in many ways, with no bride and groom' family members being present during the lockdown.
Aditya, son of retired Colonel Devendra Singh of Dehradun and Sneha, daughter of retired Colonel Kushwah who is currently a doctor at Nagpur AIIMS got engaged in the first week of February and their wedding was scheduled for May 2nd. But the lockdown was hampering the marriage plans. Both the families are stranded in Dehradun and Nagpur.
Since only the bride and groom are in Pune, Hadapsar Police Station inspector Prasad Lonari took the initiative and got Aditya and Sneha married. The most important thing about the wedding was, the police performed the kanyadaan and the police officers and staff were present in the form of relatives at the wedding. The marriage was solemnized at noon on Saturday in a simplistic manner, following the rules of social distancing.
