Hingoli: District Collector Ruchesh Jayavanshi has ordered the conditional opening of liquor shops in Hingoli for the first time in 50 days following the lockdown amidst the outbreak of Coronavirus. According to him, the shops have opened but liquor consumers seem to have given up on alcohol.

As the shops are opened after 50 days, liquor sellers have opened the shops following the order given by the government. Vendors here had made all the preparations outside their shops since Wednesday (May 13) as the number of native drinkers was high.

Healthy labourers have also been called to work in the shop following the rules laid down by the administration. However, only three to four customers have been seen in front of the shop since this morning.

Labourers consume locally made liquor since the lockdown was imposed. As the labourers do not have enough money to even afford two meals a day it is unlikely they would turn up at IMFL liquor shops for alcohol.
