Nanded (Maharashtra): In what could prove to be an exemplary move, the daughter of a farmer, who had committed suicide, got married in a simple ceremony amidst the lockdown, and hoped that the practice would continue in the days to come.
Keshav Kadam, a farmer from Kondha in Ardhapur taluk, had committed suicide in 2015 due to growing debt and the infertility of his land.
'No need to splurge money, simple weddings should continue post lockdown' The Bhoi Foundation in Pune and Ardhapur Taluka Press Association adopted the farmer's family under the Punyajagar project. All educational expenses of the farmer's children were taken care of by them.
Sampada, Kadam's daughter, was a part of the Punyajagar project, and got married thanks to Advocate Kishor Deshmukh. She married Uttarao Rajegore, a resident of Shelgaon, in a simple ceremony at the Aksharangan school.
The marriage was solemnised in accordance with all the rules and regulations of the government. Every relative and guest present observed a safe distance from each other, and was seen using sanitiser and wearing a mask.

"I decided to get married during the lockdown to avoid unnecessary expenses that are incurred at weddings. Farmers should continue this by getting married in a simple manner by avoiding unnecessary expenses and maintain this tradition," the bride said.
