Mumbai: Shiv Seva MP Sanjay Raut took a dig at drug seizure in Gujarat's Mundra port. In a veiled remark, Raut said, "We know where drugs worth Rs 21,000 drugs are seized, where the money goes and where it is used...We will reveal it in due course." He was speaking to reporters in Mumbai.

As per reports, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence under the Union Ministry of Finance seized heroin weighing 2,988.21 kilogram from Mundra port in Kutch district on September 15. The drug consignment amounts to Rs 21,000 crore as per DRI estimates. The estimated value of seized heroin per kilogram is about Rs 5 to 7 crore in the international market.

It is slated to be the single largest seizure of drugs in the country so far. The DRO seized two containers with 1,999.57 kg heroin and 988.64 kg heroin in each. The seizure was done under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act by the DRI, as per sources.

Searches were conducted in four cities including Gujarat's Ahmedabad, Gandhidham and Mandvi as well as Delhi and Chennai. Two people were arrested subsequently after the searches. Aashi Trading Company, identified as importer firm, is allegedly run by M Sudhakar and his wife G Durga Purna Vaishali.

The couple was arrested by the DRI from Chennai and later brought to Bhuj town in Kutch and granted 10 days custody as pronounced by a special court for NDPS cases in Bhuj.
