Mumbai:Mumbai Police has introduced an online system with QR code for patrolling to increase accountability.

The country's financial capital, Mumbai, has a population of around 18 million, with 42,000 Mumbai police responsible for the security of the population. Patrolling is done by Mumbai Police in different areas of Mumbai. Mumbai Police is now patrolling through 'QR code' to bring more regularity in the work of patrolling police personnel.

In Mumbai, there are 94 police stations and senior police inspectors of these stations have been ordered to apply QR codes for patrolling at 60 sensitive places in their area. The work of police patrols in Mumbai is divided into three types. In the 'A' type section, the police squad has to patrol the area every two hours. In the 'B' classification, the police squad has to go and patrol the area once a day. The 'C' class police squad has to patrol the area once a week.

Mumbai currently has QR codes at 60 locations under different police stations, including government offices, parks, public places, schools and other sensitive areas. A police officer on patrol will have to scan the QR code and the police Department will analyse patrolling data from the area.
