Mumbai: The Mumbai Sessions Court has issued a non-bailable warrant against National Congress Party leader Eknath Khadse's wife Mandakini Khadse in the Pune land scam case. Mandakini Khadse's anticipatory bail application has also been rejected by the court earlier.

Meanwhile, Eknath Khadse could not appear in the Sessions Court on Tuesday on this case. Khadse has undergone surgery and is currently admitted to Bombay Hospital. His lawyers have told the court that he will remain in the hospital for a few more days.

He has also asked the court for more time to appear. The court has given Khadse more time to appear. The next hearing in the case is now set for October 21.

Eknath Khadse's wife Mandakini Khadse and son-in-law Girish Chaudhary purchased land in Bhosari MIDC on April 28, 2016 from the original landowner Abbas Rasulbhai Ukani for Rs 3.75 crore. The transaction was duly recorded in the Registrar's Office.

Khadse, the 68-year-old revenue minister in the erstwhile Devendra Fadnavis government was accused of illegally buying the land. The land belonged to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). The entanglement in the case led to his resignation. He switched sides from the Bharatiya Janata Party to join the NCP, as per reports.

On Aug 27, The Enforcement Directorate (ED) attached assets worth ₹ 5.73 crore belonging to Khadse, his wife Mandakini Khadse, his son-in-law Girish Chaudhari and others in a case of criminal misconduct by a public servant.

The attached assets include immovable properties in the form of one bungalow, three residential flats, seven land parcels worth ₹ 4.86 crore, and a bank balance of ₹ 86.28 lakh.
