Palghar (Maharashtra):At least 10 persons were injured in a massive explosion that took place at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Dahanu in the Palghar district of Maharashtra on Thursday.
According to Assistant collector Asima Mittal, the incident took place around 10.30 a.m., after a sudden blast occurred in the factory. Some of the workers managed to escape from the location, whereas some of them sustained injuries. "Some of the injured workers have been shifted to Dahanu hospital, a few others have been sent to a hospital in Vapi, Gujarat. No deaths have been reported so far. The fire brigade officials are carrying out search operations inside the factory.", she added.

According to sources, 50 workers were working in the factory at the time of the blast.

According to reports, the shock waves were felt within a radius of 10-15 kms. Almost seven to eight large explosions have taken place so far at the site. Meanwhile, The district administration or the fire department is yet to comment on the cause of the blast, the extent of the damage and the fire fighting operation.
