Navi Mumbai:Three persons were killed and another six were injured in an AC compressor blast at the Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers (RFC) plant in the Alibaug area of Maharashtra's Raigad district on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 5:30 pm, with fire engines subsequently rushing to the spot.
The injured have been admitted to the RCF hospital. Those with critical injuries, on the other hand, have been admitted to a burn hospital in nearby Airoli. Police sources said that the concerned workers were repairing an AC at the RCF unit at Thal in Alubag when suddenly an explosion took place in the AC compressor at around 5.30 pm.

However, RFC officials said that the blast took place when the AC was being installed by a third-party vendor. They also said that an inquiry has been ordered to know the exact reason behind the explosion and the report will be submitted soon.
Police sources said that investigation is going on and the case will be registered soon. They further revealed that the deceased have been identified as Ankit Sharma (27), Faizal Saikh (32), and Dilshad Idrasi (29).
Sources inside the RCF noted that the 1.5-tonne package AC unit was procured from M/s Airezo Global for the RCF unit in Thal, Raigad. Among the injured, one person suffered 60 percent burns and was admitted to the National Burns Centre, while others sustained head and hand injuries, and were shifted to Fortis Hospital in Mumbai.
