Amravati (Maharashtra): During the ongoing festive season, Indian households are looking forward to buying sweets and even gold on Dhanteras, which is considered auspicious. In Maharashtra's Amaravati, people can do both at once.
Raghuveer, a sweet store in Amravati, has come out with the luxury mithai 'Soneri Bhog' which is covered with a 24-carat gold leaf. The gold-covered sweet is priced at Rs 7,000 per kilo.
"Last year, we tried to do something different for Diwali and came up with a gold-covered sweet 'Pista Paan.' Taking a step further, we have introduced 'Soneri Bhog' this year, which is covered with a 24-carat gold leaf," said Tejas Popat, who runs the sweet store.
The luxury mithai is made up of pistachios and almond, and also has dashes of hazelnut and saffron. What makes it truly special, however, is the gold leaf.
Customers who buy Soneri Bhog are also given a certificate of the gold's purity and a greeting card.
