Water level of Krishna river starts receding
The water level of Krishna river started receding in worst flood hit district Kolhapur and Sangli in Maharashtra.
In the last 24 hours, the water level has decreased by 3 inches in Sangli and by 9 inches in Kolhapur.
According to Pune Divisional Commissioner's Office report, "A total of 85 teams, 169 boats and 1025 person are operating in Kolhapur and Sangli under NDRF / SDRF / Territorial Army / Navy / NGO and District Administration."So far, 4,13,945 people have been moved to safety from the flood-hit districts of Maharashtra. 1,43,641 from Sangli and 2,33,150 from Kolhapur have been evacuated to a safe place.
The total number of deaths due to rain or flood-related incidents is 30.

Water being released into Godavari from Gangapur dam
Following incessant rain in catchment areas in Trimbakeshwar tehsil of Nashik district, 5,104 cusec water is being released from Gangapur dam into the Godavari river on Friday, irrigation officials said.
The water level of the Godavari has risen but it is flowing within its banks, they said.
As much as 11,788 cusec water is being released from Darna dam in the district.
Gangapur and Darna dams were filled up 91 per cent and 89 per cent, respectively, officials said.

Chopper to drop relief material in flood-hit Sangli district
A helicopter is being deployed to drop relief material in the flood-ravaged areas of Sangli district in Maharashtra and it may also be used to evacuate stranded people, a senior official said on Friday.
Rescue measures are underway in rural as well as urban areas of the western Maharashtra district, he said.
Meanwhile, a dozen rescue teams of the Indian Navy are being deployed in Sangli district, an official said.

More than two lakh people have been evacuated to safer places and as many as 27 people have died due to floods in five districts of Western Maharashtra.
Pune:Over two lakh persons have been evacuated to safer places due to the floods that have wreaked havoc in five districts of Western Maharashtra, the worst hit being the districts of Sangli and Kolhapur, as of Thursday.
At least nine persons drowned in Sangli district when a rescue boat capsized. The region is being pounded by rains incessantly over the last few days.
The total number of deaths due to rain or flood-related incidents in five districts of the region during this period was 27, officials said.
