Ratnagiri: Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray today visited flood-affected Chiplun and took stock of the situation. He met with locals and officials as well as local representatives and assessed the extent of damage and ongoing relief operations.
CM visited Chiplun, assured help
A financial review of the flood damage in the state will be carried out in a couple of days but for now the district collectors concerned have been directed to immediately provide food, medicine, clothes and other necessities to the flood victims, CM told reporters in a press conference held here. In view of the dire situation in Raigad and Ratnagiri, the state government has provided immediate assistance of Rs 2 crore each to both districts. The other districts have been given Rs 50 lakh each.
Rane, Fadnavis visited Taliye
Union Minister Narayan Rane & leader of opposition Devendra Fadnavis also visited the Taliye landslide site in Raigad. The duo took stock of the situation and demanded immediate relief to flood victims. Rane will be reporting the situation here to the PM. Teams of the National Disaster Response Force & SDRF are conducting rescue operations at the site, said Fadnavis while talking to reporters.
Aaditya Thackeray attacked opposition
Maharashtra Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray attacked the Opposition on allegations that CM didn't step out during floods. He said that, If you're going to focus on the opposition, it's not something for us to do. The work for all of us is to go beyond politics. It's time to stand behind the people.
