Maha: Youths drown in Krishna river, one goes missing

Two youth drowned while taking bath in the Krishna river. While one's body was recovered, another is still missing.

Satara (Maharashtra):Two youth drowned while taking bath in the Krishna river in Dattanagar of Satara city in Maharashtra on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased youths have been identified as Gangapapa Gari Adarsh (20) of Konapuram area of Andhra Pradesh and Sagar S. Siddappa (19) of Gauribidanur in Karnataka.

According to eyewitnesses, Adarsh and Siddappa were taking bath in Krishna river on Saturday afternoon when they slipped into the deep water. However, they were unable to swim back due to heavy current and got drowned.

Locals present near the river spotted the youths being swept away but were unable to rescue them due to heavy current.

On being informed by locals, Satara city police IIC, Annasaheb Manjare with the Shivendra Raje and rescue team rushed to the spot and initiated a search and rescue operation.

While Adarsh's body was recovered, Siddappa is still missing till the last report came in.
