Kolhapur (Maharashtra): It is a tradition to send a customary saree from Tirupati to Ambabai, a Karveer resident of Kolhapur, every year. Accordingly, the saree from Tirupati was handed over to the West Maharashtra Devasthan Samiti today. According to the traditional rites, the ceremony was held at the office of the Devasthan Samiti and the saree was offered to Kolhapur's Ambabai.
Temples in Maharashtra are still closed due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. However, Tirumala Devasthan has maintained this practice by sending a saree this year as well. The trustee of Tirumala Devasthan, Bhaskar Reddy and other dignitaries brought this saree from Tirupati to Kolhapur by a special plane. Tirumala Devasthan's trustee Bhaskar Reddy and his wife Swarnalatha Reddy along with Tirumala Trust president's wife Lakshmi Reddy, Gopinath Jeddy, Dharma Reddy, Prashanti Reddy and Aparna Reddy were welcomed in a traditional manner.
