Ahmednagar: Sonali Mandlik, a wrestler from Kaprewadi in Karjat taluka, is struggling for her livelihood. She is working hard to take the country to an international level through wrestling. But at this point, she needs financial support according to her.
Sonali has won a gold medal in the 'Khelo India' competition. But despite this, she lives in a kaccha house as her father is a farmer while her mother is a housewife. The showcase in her house is full of various awards and trophies. It has not changed her struggle with adversity.
The lockdown due to the spread of Corona affected her practice. However, she and her father are determined to continue the struggle without hesitation. Seeing her father, she is reminded of Aamir Khan from the popular Bollywood film, Dangal. Like him, Sonali's father built a wrestling arena nearby and Sonali continued to practice.
While talking to ETV Bharat, Sonali said, "I want to make the country proud. I wish to participate in the Olympics and represent India. Due to the lockdown imposed, my training centre was shut and I was unable to practise so my father created a wrestling arena in our farm so I could practice."
