Gondia: Rich in its nature and known as a city of lakes, Gondia district in Maharashtra has been witnessing the migration of foreign birds once again. Out of these the exotic Greater Flamingos are seen to be migrating after almost 20 years. The Greater Flamingos were spotted for the first time near a lake in Saundad in Sadak- Arjuni road on Wednesday. Bird lovers are indeed happy with this migration of exotic birds.
Gondia being a district of lakes, large numbers of foreign birds migrate here during winters. This is indeed a treat to environmentalists and bird lovers. Environmentalists’ organization always strives for maintaining the biodiversity of the district. Notably, the number of Sarus cranes has also been increasing in the district and thus Gondia has started getting a new identity as a district of Sarus cranes.
Watching Greater Flamingos is indeed a feast to one’s eyes and people of Gondia got this opportunity of watching 34 Greater Flamingos on July 1.
