Govt school principal demands bribe in Chhattisgarh, probe ordered

Jashpur collector demanded an inquiry against the principal of a Government Higher Secondary School for allegedly demanding chicken and liquor for giving admission to a Class 10 student. The student's parent accused the district education officer (DEO) of hiding the matter.

Jashpur:An inquiry has been ordered by the district's collector against the principal of a Government Higher Secondary School for allegedly demanding chicken and liquor for giving admission to a Class 10 student in Chhattisgarh's Manora on Thursday.

The parents, along with Shala Vikas Committee (SVC) members, went to the Collectorate after which a departmental inquiry was ordered in the matter.

Meanwhile, the student's parent accused the district education officer (DEO) of hiding the matter.

Student's sister Asmita Ekka said, "I've been trying to get my brother enrolled in Class 10, but they are continuously demanding bribe from us."

SVC member Hadess Ansari said, "The collector has assured that an investigation will be carried out in the matter and strict actions will be taken."According to sources, the boy completed his studies till Class 9 from Tamamunda school, but due to a financial crisis at home, he sought admission in a government school.
