Mumbai (Maharashtra):At least 23 alumni from IIT Mumbai have come forward to contribute from their end to overcome the spread of Coronavirus across the country. The largest corona testing lab which can test three lakh citizens a day will be set up soon.

The lab, which is being set up by alumni of IITs, will be ready in the next few days and will have the capacity to screen more than 1 crore citizens, said Ravi Sharma, President of IIT Alumni Council. Although it has not been decided yet where the lab will be set up, it is said that the lab will be located either in Mumbai or Navi Mumbai area.

Mumbai has the highest number of corona patients in the country. The alumni of IITs had provided state-of-the-art mobile labs as citizens needed to be examined. Since then, students working in various institutions around the world have been preparing to set up the largest lab in the country given the crisis that the country has been fighting against.

There are a large number of corona patients in Mumbai and there is a lot of pressure on the labs to check for corona-infected patients. Therefore, Mumbai needs a large lab for coronary testing. We have identified that need and we are working towards it. The lab we are setting up, all Mumbaikars will be able to test for corona within a month. The quality of inspection is excellent and we will provide the facility of inspection to the citizens at the lowest cost.

The lab will be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, a team of expert doctors, artificial intelligence, learning machines and robotics to help them. K Vijay Raghavan and directors of various IITs Ravi Sharma, president of the IIT Alumni Council, said that more than a thousand alumni working around the world would contribute to finding a solution to fight Corona this time around.
