Murbe (Maharashtra):In what could be the most priced catch of the Western Coast, a fisherman and his crew netted 157 Ghol fish worth Rs 1.25 crore recently after they ventured into the sea post-monsoon. Locally known as Ghol, the blackspotted croaker (Protonibea diacanthus) is one of the costliest fish in the world as the fish's internal organs are most-sought-after for their medicinal and cosmetic value especially in Far Eastern countries.
The fishing boat Harba Devi with her owner Chandrakant Tare and the eight-member crew sailed from Murbe near Palghar on August 28. About 20 to 25 nautical miles off Dahanu-Wadhwan coast, the fishermen sunk their nets as usual. When they hauled the net back, they have caught a bunch of fish both big and small and they soon realized they have netted fish worth gold.
