Female police officer facing disciplinary action found dead in her apartment in Mumbai Mumbai: A young female police sub-inspector facing disciplinary action for long absence from duty was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her apartment in Nehru Nagar Kurla East suburb area of Maharashtra capital Mumbai on Wednesday, officials said. The deceased has been identified as Sheetal Yedke, 35.
The matter came to light after neighbours noticed a foul smell emanating from the apartment of Yedke after which they informed the police, Circle 6's Deputy Commissioner of Police Hemraj Rajput said. Soon, a team of police from the concerned police station was rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation, Rajput said.

As the team of police went inside the apartment, they found her dead with her body in a decomposed condition. It is believed that the female police officer had died many days ago. A police official said that preliminary investigation has pointed towards suicide as cause of death. However the actual reason for the death will be known through the post-mortem of the body.
He said that the body has been sent to the hospital for post-mortem. According to DCP Hemraj Rajput, deceased Yedke was originally a resident of Nagar district of Maharashtra and she used to live in Nehru Nagar area of Mumbai on rent in connection with her duty. Pertinently, deceased Sheetal Yedke was posted at the Nehru Nagar Police Station in Kurla (East).
It is said that Yedke was off duty for more than a year, due to which disciplinary action was taken against her.
