Thane ( Maharashtra): A magistrate's court here in Maharashtra sentenced eight persons till the "rising of the court" and imposed a fine of Rs 600 on them for taking out a rally by defying the prohibitory orders after India had defeated Pakistan in a cricket tie in 2016.
The court of First Class Judicial Magistrate (FCJM) R H Jha convicted the eight men, all residents of Thane, under provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951.
The verdict was pronounced on January 24. The court also imposed a collective fine of Rs 600 on all the convicts.
