Mumbai: Former Narcotics Control Bureau of India (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede accused of extortion in the 2021 drugs-on-cruise case, has written to Mumbai Police Commissioner demanding security in view of “threats” to him and his wife, sources said on Monday. Wankhede is accused to have demanded Rs 25 crore extortion money from actor Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan for going easy on him in the drugs-on-cruise case of 2021.
It is learnt that Wankhede has written a letter to Mumbai Police Commissioner and demanded security for himself and his wife “to prevent from meeting the same fate as Atiq Ahmad”. Atiq Ahmad, the don-turned-politician accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, was shot dead along with brother Ashraf on the night of Apr. 15 while they were being taken for a medical test in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh.
