Mumbai:The Mumbai police seized 134 grams of charas and over half a dozen of white colour tablets, suspected to be drugs, from inside the Arthur Road Jail in the Chinchpokli area here. The drugs were found near barrack 11, which houses high-profile prisoners. A case has been registered on Sunday against an unknown person and a probe is underway.
According to police sources, a constable named Ajay Dhuri found the package on November 30. The drug was packed in a polythene bag and was thrown from outside the jail. The bag landed near a ground-plus-two building, where undertrials of sensitive cases are lodged.

Police constable Ajay Dhuri said that he was on duty on November 29 evening and found the bag containing the narcotics substance at around 4:30 AM the next day. He immediately informed the seniors about the black-coloured polyethene bag, leading to its inspection. A case was registered at the NM Joshi Marg police station against an unidentified person.
The drugs were thrown from outside and an investigation is on, said a police official. He added that CCTV footage of the area is also being examined to find the person behind the act. A chemical analysis of the drug is likely to be done.
