DRDO espionage case: Pradeep Kurulkar watched cricket match and visited dance bar with Pak spy agent: sources

Pradeep Kurulkar visited six countries in 2022. The ATS is now trying to find out the country where he watched the cricket match with the Pakistani spy.

Pune:Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) director and scientist Dr Pradeep Kurulkar, who is in custody for sharing security sensitive information to Pakistani spy agent, watched the India-Pakistan cricket match with her in abroad and later on, enjoyed with her at a dance bar.

This was revealed when the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) accessed the e-mails of Kurulkar, sources said. It has been revealed that Kurulkar visited six countries and during one of his foreign tours he watched the India-Pakistan match with the Pakistani woman. Also, it has come to light that he went to a dance bar with the woman. The recent recordings of the matches are being checked, ATS sources said.

During investigation, ATS officials found a mail with code language in Kurulkar's mail box. It took a long time for the officials to interpret the mail and finally it was revealed that the mail was about going abroad and watching a cricket match.

ATS sources said Kurulkar visited six countries in 2022 and probe is on as to where he met the Pakistani spy and watched the cricket match with her. The past records of those countries hosting cricket matches are being assessed, sources added. ATS had seized several electronic devices including mobile phones and laptops from Kurulkar and had sent those for forensic detailing. It was found that Kurulkar had already deleted some of the WhatsApp chats with the woman.

Kurulkar was arrested under the Official Secrets Act by the ATC on May 3. The additional sessions judge had extended his remand till May 15. Kurulkar was in touch with the Pakistani woman through e-mail and reportedly shared information in lieu of obscene pictures.
