Mumbai:The number of coronavirus cases in the country's financial capital crossed 70,000 while the death toll due to the pandemic exceeded 4,000 on Thursday.
In a new-single day spike in Maharashtra, the count reached to 1,47,741 and death toll rose to 6,931.
The state also reported deaths of 192 more patients, taking the total fatalities to 6,931. Out of these, 109 deaths took place in the last 48 hours, while the remaining 83 occurred earlier.
Also, 3,661 patients were discharged from hospitals in the state, taking the number of recoveries to 77,453, the official said.
With this, the number of active patients in the state stood at 63,342.
Currently, 5,56,428 people are in home quarantine and 33,952 people in institutional quarantine, said the official.
The Nashik division has recorded 6,935 cases and 463 deaths so far.
