Couple gets hitched amid lockdown, family joins on Facebook live

Amid the nationwide lockdown, a couple in Ratnagiri tied the nuptial knot while their family members witnessed the wedding ceremony through Facebook live.

Ratnagiri: Summers being the peak wedding season, this year thousands of weddings have been cancelled due to the national lockdown. However, there was a unique wedding ceremony that took place in Lanza in Maharashtra's Ratnagiri amidst the ongoing lockdown.

Relatives blessed the couple through Facebook live amidst the lockdown. The relatives participated in the marriage ceremony from Nandurbar and showered them with blessings.

The bride, Jyoti Abhisingh Chaure of Waghale village in Nandurbar works as a clerk at the Lanza Tehsil office. She got married to Manohar Narayan Ahire of Dhule.

The marriage ceremony was to be held at Ahire's Vitave village in Dhule after the engagement. All the preparations for the wedding were done accordingly. Jyoti went to Nandubar in February to initiate talks about the marriage.

This time Manohar Ahire came to Lanza to drop her off and got stuck in the lockdown. The couple wanted to get married as per the decided time, but in a time like this, how will it be achieved?

Vanita Patil, Tehsildar of Lanza Tehsil Office, took all the responsibility and got the necessary administrative approval for the marriage and the ceremony was held on time.

Tehsil office staff turned relatives for bride and groom. The wedding, which took place on May 10 at 12.30 pm, was attended by tehsil office staff and a handful of policemen who turned relatives of the bride and the groom. The marriage ceremony was performed as per all rituals.
