Corona situation in Maharashtra critical, CM instructs strict lockdown

In a virtual meeting held today, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Health Minister Dr Rajesh Tope as well as Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte, task force doctors and senior officials in the administration discussed the need to impose a complete lockdown in the next few days to prevent infection if the restrictions and guidelines are not strictly followed.

Mumbai: Due to the rapid increase in the number of corona patients in the state, beds and other health facilities have become inadequate. At today's meeting, it was instructed that very strict restrictions like lockdown should be imposed immediately. In this important meeting held today, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Health Minister Dr Rajesh Tope as well as Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte, task force doctors and senior officials in the administration discussed the need to impose a complete lockdown in the next few days to prevent infection if the restrictions and guidelines are not strictly followed.

In this meeting, the Chief Minister directed the administration to plan for lockdown as there is no strict adherence to the restrictions. Concerns were raised at the meeting that health facilities were rapidly declining due to the growing contagion. The task force feared the mortality rate would rise. Visitors were also barred from entering Ministry and government offices.

The meeting took place this afternoon via video conference.

Night curfew in the State from midnight on March 28 The State has imposed a night curfew from midnight on March 28. A statewide night curfew has been imposed till April 15 and malls and other organizations in the country's financial capital Mumbai will be closed from 8 pm to 7 am.

Atul Bhatkhalkars criticism of the government

BJP leader Atul Bhatkhalkar has criticized the government over the guidelines implemented by the State government.

"Is there Uddhav Thackeray’s government in Maharashtra or Muslim League’s? The Thackeray government has banned Holi and allowed Shab E Barat. This Hindu opposition will not be tolerated. Hindus don’t follow Janab Sena’s non-binding legal opinion. Celebrate Holi with a bang by following the rules of social distancing. Condemn the (chillar) Aurangzeb’s mentality," said Atul Bhatkhalkar.

The grand Holi in BDD Chawl has been cancelled this year

A ban has been issued on Holi in Mumbai city and suburbs. Holi celebrations at Worli Koliwada and Worli BDD Chawl has been cancelled this year. In some places, small Holi was organized in the presence of two to four people.

Yusuf Pathan tested positive for corona

Former Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan has also been tested positive for corona.

Yusuf himself tweeted at 8.30 pm on Saturday (Mar 27) that he has tested positive for corona.

If the number of patients is not reduced, lockdown is inevitable - Chhagan Bhujbal

In the Corona crisis, everyone should work with a sense of humanity and social responsibility. Also, the lockdown is inevitable in the next few days if the number of corona patients continues to rise due to non-obedience by the citizens with the restrictions issued by the administration, said Chhagan Bhujbal, Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection and District Guardian Minister. He was speaking in the Nashik district.

Corona failed the festival of joy in Nagpur

Holi has been banned in Nagpur due to the ongoing Corona crisis. Holi is forbidden to be celebrated in public places. As a result, the sellers got in trouble as the goods are not being sold. People were not seen going shopping in the market. Restrictions on playing Holi in apartments also eroded the happiness of children.

Despite the ban, MP Imtiaz Jalil to protest

MP Imtiaz Jalil has opposed the continuation of business in the lockdown in Aurangabad. A protest will be held on March 31 to demand vacancies in the health department and for employees who are risking their life workers in industrial estates. The protest will follow all the rules of Covid. If you want lockdown, stop the meetings by Modi and Amit Shah that gather crowds in Bengal, said Imtiaz Jalil.

Corona incursion in Sangola sub-jail, corona infection to 28 prisoners

The number of corona patients is increasing in Sangola taluka of Solapur district. Out of 54 prisoners in Sangola sub-jail, 28 have tested positive for corona. The corona test will be conducted on the police officers and staff who came in contact with the prisoners, informed Bhagwan Nimbalkar, Inspector of Police, Sangola Police Station.

Sai Samadhi Mandir will be open from 7.15 am to 7.45 pm

The Sai Prasadalaya in Shirdi will be open from 10 am to 7.30 pm, said Sai Sansthan Chief Executive Officer Kanhuraj Bagate. While, The Samadhi Mandir will be open from 7.15 am to 7.45 pm for Sai Babas darshan.

Government Technical College and Urdu Ghar in Nanded are now Covid Care Center

As the number of patients in the city of Nanded continued to rise, it became a threat to others. People with low immunity in the family, senior citizens as well as young children were at increased risk of infection. With this in mind, the Municipal Corporation has decided to re-open the closed Covid Center. From Monday (29th) positive patients will be admitted to the Corporations Covid Care Center said Commissioner Dr Sunil Lahane. He said that space is currently available in the Covid Center at Mahsul Bhavan and the Covid Center Government Technical College as well as Urdu Ghar are now ready.

Corona effect on sugar gathi (garland) for Holi-Padva

Holi has the significance of the sugar gathi (garland). However, this year the business of sugar garlands has not flourished as such and people are seen buying less sugar garland that to for tradition name sake. “Even though we produce and sell 100 kg sugar garland every year, this year we are producing only 50 kg due to the corona crisis and lockdown in the market during evening," the sugar garland trader told ETV Bharat.
