Bhagat Singh Koshyari directs MahaVikas Aghadi to elect speaker

Mumbai (Maharashtra): With the exit of Nana Patole as the speaker of Maharashtra legislative assembly, governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has written a letter to the state government inquiring about its plans to hold elections for the vacant post.

The governor Koshyari has directed the government to conduct an election for a new speaker before budget session, which is due within a few days.

The MVA government has sent a list of 12 persons to be appointed to legislative council from the governor quota. However, the governor has not given his nod on the matter yet. Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole said that the governor is deliberately stalling the decisions taken by the government.

Patole alleged that the governor is not keeping the dignity of the constitutional post and is undermining the constitution. So, MVA is planning to knock on the doors of court against the governor.
