Gadchiroli (Maharashtra):Six wanted Naxals, including five women, surrendered before police in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district on Wednesday, an official said.
"One of those who surrendered was identified as Sandeep alias Maharu Chamru Badde (30), the Kasunsur Dalam commander, who was carrying a reward of Rs 6.25 lakh. He was allegedly involved in a number of cases of killing, encounters and blasts in Gadchiroli, located around 170 km from here," a police spokesperson said.
Sandeep had joined Kasanasuram Naxal group as a member in February 2009 and served as a commander since April 2009.
Besides, five women Naxals, all were carrying cash rewards in the range of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 5.5 lakh, also surrendered themselves before the police.
All of them were having a total of 31 lakh and 50 thousand cash rewards on their head. He was charged over offences like murder, abduction etc and had a reward of six lakh and twenty-five thousand rupees on his head.
"They were identified as Manisha alias Gangabai Jagnuram Kurvaami (30), Swarupa alias Sarita Aatla (23), Ani alias Mila Motiram Tulavi (25), Mamita alias Mamta Pallo (20) and Tulsi alias Maase Korami (24)," the official informed.
Manisha had joined Tipagad Naxal group in 2003 and since 2004 she was working as a member of the Kasansur group. She was also an accused in many cases and had a reward of 5 lakh and 25 thousand cash reward on her.
