White tigress Vindhya dies in White Tiger Safari Zoo in MP's Mukundpur

Sixteen-year-old white tigress died at White Tiger Safari in Mukundpur of Satna district after a prolonged illness. The tigress was identified as Vindhya, which was sick for a long time. Maharaja Martand Singh Mukundpur White Tiger Safari mourned the death of the white tigress.

Satna (Madhya Pradesh):Sixteen-year-old white tigress died at White Tiger Safari in Mukundpur of Satna district, after a prolonged illness. The tigress was identified as Vindhya, which was sick for a long time. Maharaja Martand Singh Mukundpur White Tiger Safari, the Pride of the Vindhya region, mourned the death of the white tigress.

It may be recalled that on April 3, 2016, the world's first White Tiger Safari at Mukundpur Zoo was inaugurated and Vindhya Tigress was the first tigress, which was released into the safari. Vindhya has always been the centre of attraction in the Tiger Safari. According to zoo authorities, Vindhya was suffering from illness for a long time, and it had stopped eating and drinking, finally, today it breathed its last.

Soon after receiving the information about the death, Minister of State Ramkhelavan Patel and former minister Rajendra Shukla, along with officials, reached Mukundpur Zoo and paid tributes to Vindhya. It may be recalled that in 2021, a white tigress named Radha died, and now, Vindhya tigress died.

Speaking on the occasion, Vipin Patel, DFO of Satna Forest Department, said that 16-year-old tigress Vindhya died in White Tiger Mukundpur Safari Zoo, it was ill for a long time due to which it had stopped eating and drinking. It was undergoing treatment, but after skipping food for a long time, it has passed away and will be cremated as per the rules.

It may be noted that Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the ‘White Tiger Safari’ at Mukundpur in Satna district in the state’s Vindhya region in 2016 where the feline was first discovered more than 100 years ago.
