Khargone: Three police personnel sustained injuries after villagers pelted stones at the Bistan Police Station in Madhya Pradesh's Khargone district. The incident was reported on Tuesday morning after a tribal youth accused of robbery and dacoity died in the custody on Monday night. Police used tear gas to disperse angered villagers.
Bisan, a 35-year-old tribal man who was lodged at Bistan police station in connection with robbery and decoity died late last night, following which angered villagers attacked the police station and vandalised parts of it. Three police personnel also sustained injuries in the attack, ASP Jitendra Singh Pawar said adding that three days ago Bistan police had arrested 12 people including Bisan in the same case.
Villagers alleged that the accused died of police negligence. While Tehsildar denied the allegation stating no injury marks was observed on the body of the deceased. He further added the matter will be clarified after the autopsy. At present, the situation is under control, he added.
