Thief enjoys food with CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, video goes viral

The incident has been causing a huge embarrassment. Amid the presence of top-ranking officials in the CM's security, thief Arvind Gupta sneaked into the programme breaching the security cordon.

Sidhi: A thief enjoying food, along with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, at a banquet has gone viral on social media. The incident has been causing a huge embarrassment. Amid the presence of top-ranking officials in the CM's security, the thief, Arvind Gupta, sneaked into the event by breaching the security cordon.

The incident was related to the Sidhi district in the state. In the video, the miscreant Arvind Gupta was found taking food sitting adjacent to the Madhya Chief Minister. Officials were tight-lipped over the incident. What led to the glaring lapses in the CM's security, was not clear. Several top-ranking officials from the administration were at the spot. The District Collector, Superintendent of Police, district panchayat official, SHOs, and other senior officers from the administration were in attendance. But, no one noticed that the thief was taking food sitting next to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

In the video, the CM was seen talking to the thief and he also gave a pat on his back. The accused was sent to jail on April 10 on charges of stealing 43 logs of timber wood. Accused Arvind Gupta was put behind bars for two days under Sections 2, 26, and 52 of the Indian Forest Act 1927 and other relevant sections for stealing wooden logs.

Miscreants or outlaws sitting close to a political figure is not a new thing. The anti-social elements take undue advantage of their proximity to the powers that be. Officials, who were deputed to CM's security, failed to understand how the lapse happened.
