Bhopal: During the first term of the Narendra Modi government, Sushma Swaraj left behind a deep impression while working as the Minister for External Affairs.
She was able to establish herself as peoples' minister as she would literally be available round the clock for all Indians based anywhere in the world. Swaraj made good use of modern technology and social media platforms to stay in touch with people in distress.
Swaraj would respond to any distress call by any Indian from anywhere in the world and get things done for the person concerned with the help of Indian missions across the globe.
She not only helped the Indians but also rescued foreigners stuck in other countries. She played a significant role in bringing Geeta, a girl with speech and hearing impairment, back to India from Pakistan on October 28, 2015.
Geeta was just 10-11 years old when she wandered to the neighbouring country Pakistan and was found near the India- Pakistan border by the Pakistan Rangers.
Later, she was sent to a shelter home under the 'Edhi Foundation' in Karachi. Bilkis Edi, popularly known as the "Mother of Pakistan" named her as 'Geeta' and also took care of her.Geeta spent more than 10 years in Pakistan.
