The QR code will have complete information about the buyer and it will be easy to ascertain from whose gun the bullet was fired and police will be able to catch the culprit. For the first time in the nation, both cartridges and bullets of guns will be marked with a QR Code.

In an exclusive interaction with ETV Bharat, Bhind Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Singh said that with this new technique accused will be held at the earliest as the bullet found on the shooting site will provide information about the buyer.

"Crime incidents have been happening frequently, especially in Bhind district, therefore the situation is more challenging here. This new system will control crime to a large extent because now if anyone in Bhind district purchases a bullet from any Arms dealer, the QR code on the cartridge will have its complete details marked, SP Manoj Kumar Singh said.

SP Singh also informed that till now the guns made in the Army factory were being numbered, but there was no marking on the bullets and he has researched this subject for 2 years.

The SP said that bullets marking will now be done through QR code at the ammunition factory in Malanpur.

"Special arrangements have also been made to print the QR code. While mentioning the QR codes on bullets, employees will wear a bulletproof jacket to ensure all safety measures. Two different types of markings are being done. In the first case, QR codes are marked on paper rounds of 12 bore guns through ink, while infrared QR codes will be printed on metallic bullets which cannot be erased," he added.

There are more than 24,000 licensed weapons in Bhind while the number of illegal weapons is much higher. In such a situation, this unique initiative can prove to be a boon for the district, because people tend to open fire even at trivial issues and kill one another over a minor dispute. The QR code marking system being created on bullets and cartridges will help in curbing crimes.
