Indore:The Sarafa Police Station has registered an FIR against an unknown person for spreading false news of former Lok Sabha speaker and BJP leader Sumitra Mahajan's demise. The Sarafa Police station filed the FIR on the basis of a report filed by former BJP councillor Sudhir Dedge and is further investigating the matter.

Former Lok Sabha MP from Indore, Sumitra Mahajan was admitted to a private hospital in Indore following a fever. However, the news of her demise began to circulate on social media platforms. The viral news of Sumitra Mahajan's death also led to several condolences and tributes from several people including Congress leader Sashi Tharoor. Later, his son issued a clarification, terming it as false.
